A Brain-to-Brain Interface for Real-Time Sharing of Sensorimotor Information 用来进行实时感觉运动信息分享的一个脑对脑接口

Abstract
A brain-to-brain interface (BTBI) enabled a real-time transfer of behaviorally meaningful sensorimotor information between the brains of two rats. In this BTBI, an “encoder” rat performed sensorimotor tasks that required it to select from two choices of tactile or visual stimuli. While the encoder rat performed the task, samples of its cortical activity were transmitted to matching cortical areas of a “decoder” rat using intracortical microstimulation (ICMS). The decoder rat learned to make similar behavioral selections, guided solely by the information provided by the encoder rat's brain. These results demonstrated that a complex system was formed by coupling the animals' brains, suggesting that BTBIs can enable dyads or networks of animal's brains to exchange, process, and store information and, hence, serve as the basis for studies of novel types of social interaction and for biological computing devices. 论文摘要 一个脑对脑界面(BTBI)使得两只老鼠大脑间得以传送行为上有意义的感觉信息。 在这个界面上(BTBI),一个编码老鼠执行需要其从两个触觉或者视觉刺激的选项中进行选择的感觉任务。当一个编码老鼠在执行这个任务的时候,它的皮层活动样本通过其大脑皮层内微电流刺激被转送到匹配的皮质区。 编码老鼠学会了做出类似的行为选择,单纯通过其大脑提供的信息。 这个结果表明一个复杂的系统通过联结动物的大脑形成了。 并说明BTBI可以使得动物间的大脑形成网络以支持信息交换,处理和储存,因此,BTBI可以说成为学习神经类型和社会交互的基础并且当作一个生物计算设备来运作。
