Abstract
Purpose
To determine the contents of chicken nuggets from 2 national food chains. 目的 确定从2个全国食品连锁店获得的鸡块的内容。
Background
Chicken nuggets have become a major component of the American diet. We sought to determine the current composition of this highly processed food. 背景 鸡块已经成为美国人饮食的主要组成。 我们应当确定这一高度加工食品的现有成份。
Methods
Randomly selected nuggets from 2 different national fast food chains were fixed in formalin, sectioned and stained for microscopic analysis. 方法 把从两个全国快餐连锁店随机选择的鸡块用福尔马林固定,切片,染色并进行显微分析。
Results
Striated muscle (chicken meat) was not the predominate component in either nugget. Fat was present in equal or greater quantities along with epithelium, bone, nerve, and connective tissue. 结果 横纹肌(鸡肉)在所有的鸡块里都不是占主导地位的组成部分。 脂肪占等同或者更大的份量,另外还有上皮组织,骨头,神经和结缔组织。
Conclusion
Chicken nuggets are mostly fat, and their name is a misnomer. 结论 鸡块大部分是脂肪,所以它的名字可以说是一个误称。
